Governance and Management

It is the mission of CTRNet to ensure the fullest development, promote the ethical use, safeguard sustainability and foster regional links of a national tumour banking resource. To fulfill this goal, CTRNet has formed a Scientific Advisory Council to provide policy oversight, develop effective strategies to maximize societal and academic benefit and to promote sustained growth of the program.

The Council is comprised of:

  • Representatives of major cancer funding agencies such as the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Genome Canada and others
  • Three or more representatives are selected by the Council for their ability to contribute to the academic and business plans of the CTRNet
  • Representatives from the provincial cancer agencies and programs that are part of CTRNet
  • The Director of the Management Group (ex officio)

The Management Group is in place to execute approved policy and to deploy and use resources consistent with the CTRNet budget and with the advice of the Scientific Advisory Council. Under the leadership of the Management Group, this group will manage the day to day operations of the program.
