Batch functions are functions that are applied to a set of data. Examples of this are realiquoting in batch and updating in batch.

In the case of a batch updates, the provided fields are fields for which updating as a batch make sense. An example of relevant fields for participants are vital status and last chart checked date. You will never find a field such as "first name" as updating it a batch doesn't make sense. When updating as a batch blank fields are not updated.

To use a batch function, you first need to create a valid set of data with the query tool. Then, available actions will be listed in the action control under "batch actions".
