Qualifier - Qualifier terms may be attached to metadata items to distinguish one data element concept, conceptual domain, data element, or data value domain from another.

Qualifiers

When specifying a qualifier use square brackets to enclose the qualifier. An example of an object which contains a qualifier is:

Specimen [Biological material]

In this case, the qualifier is Biological material. The square brackets which contain Biological Material indicate that the object Specimen can be differentiated into different sub-types. This is known as specialization.
