Version Format and Release Types

There are three release types for the ATiM (Advanced Tissue Management) application:

  • Major - These releases offer substantial upgrades to more than one module or disease sites as well as entirely new functionality. This release may also include visual/styling upgrades that alter the look and feel of the entire application. CTRNet schedules two major releases per calendar year depending on development activities.
  • Minor - Minor releases are issued for bug fixes, new disease sites and other small functionality upgrades. Each minor release builds upon the previous starting point from the last major version number.
  • Patch - These updates are critical bug fixes/updates that require immediate release. Patch updates can be released for both the latest version of ATiM and the last major release.

Version Number Format

ATiM uses the following format for version numbers

     Patch revision
       |
vN.N.N.C
 | | |
 | Minor version(s)
 |
 Major version

Where N represents a numeric value and C a character value. For a summary of current and past ATiM release see the Version Release Notes section.

Upgrade Paths

Banks can choose to upgrade existing installations in a number of ways:

  • Install minor release packages as they are provided.
  • Upgrade with each new major release from a previous major release.
  • Checkout the latest builds of ATiM from our SVN repository and keep their installation up to date manually.

Banks which choose to upgrade with each minor release package should be aware that in order to install a particular release they are required to have installed all previous minor releases up to the current version.
