CTRNet’s work over more than 20 years has increased the findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability of human biospecimens and data for research. Our focus is on the following core areas:

• Maintaining National Biobanking Standards, Policies, and Standard Operating Procedures;
• Providing Quality Assurance programs, Education & Training, to strengthen local biobanking efforts;
• Offering an open-source Biobank Information Management System to facilitate consistent data management and data sharing;
• Maximizing research funders return on investment by ensuring that supported research projects meet national standards for biospecimen and data quality;
• Promotion of the exchange of administrative and scientific best practices for biobanking to advance translational research in Canada.
